The goddess of love and beauty, although not a mortal woman, Aphrodite has some of the most famous statues in the ancient world. The Venus de Milo, a statue of Aphrodite, is one of the most renowned sculptures, celebrated for its idealized beauty. 

A queen and naval commander, she fought alongside the Persians during the Greco-Persian Wars. Statues and busts of her commemorate her bravery and leadership.

A famous poetess from the island of Lesbos, Sappho is often depicted in statues and art as a symbol of lyrical poetry and love.

Like Aphrodite, Athena is a goddess, specifically of wisdom and war. The famous Athena Parthenos statue in the Parthenon on the Acropolis was one of the largest and most impressive statues in ancient Greece.

The goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and moon, often depicted with a bow and arrows. She is a protector of wildlife and is fiercely independent, preferring to remain untouched by men. As Apollo’s twin sister, she also has a connection to the moon. In one myth, she punishes the hunter Actaeon by turning him into a stag after he accidentally sees her bathing.

The goddess of agriculture and the harvest, overseeing the fertility of the earth. She is most famous for her connection to the myth of her daughter Persephone, whose abduction by Hades causes Demeter’s grief, leading to the cycle of the seasons.
